Filling crisp packets with plaster.
Testing on the shelf
Coating one in silver leaf completely.
Final Outcome
Reflections:
I chose to make them a solid object because I felt like the crisp packet themselves were too flimsy and tacky. After reflections and the group crit on Tuesday I decided I wanted to make something more solid and more clean looking.
I chose to leave one packet blank but with a silver leaf top, and the other completely coated in silver leaf. I was going to coat both but I think this creates a good contrast and it adds a comical effect to see what the object once was.
The placement of the shelf really helps to enhance their object appeal to the viewer, being almost at eye level, it's nearly the perfect height for the viewer to be most consumed by the object. I know that shops tend to place their best products at this height for this purpose.
